Mission Statement
The Distance Learning Extension provides courses and programs using technology broadcast systems to rural Utah where students are unable to come to the campus for instruction. Our primary goal is to serve rural Southeastern Utah and secondarily to serve the State with educational opportunities that prepare traditional as well as non-traditional students to meet the challenges of our time.
Function
The College of Eastern Utah Distance Learning CEUNET is comprised of an educational broadcast system covering 17,000 square miles. Using state-of-the-art technology, we reach out to students who are unable to travel to the campus. We bring the campus to the isolated and remote non-traditional student using a totally interactive, both audio and video, broadcast network that provides an in class experience common to the campus courses. These courses are a combination of a regular courses being taught in a broadcast room to students on campus and students throughout the State at UEN sites. In a partnership with the instructors, Distance Learning provides for facilitators and proctors and coordinates the physical activities required for participation in the class. We also function in a partnership with the state sponsored Utah Educational Network who helps maintain the statewide system and provides guidance and support for technology delivered courses. In this partnership we participate in the Utah Electronic College where all 9 institutions provide courses to the entire state via technology delivered systems.
